Instrument Lighting Systems got its start when its founder, Harrison, came downstairs to find that his wife had started a new DIY project. This time, she had turned an entire wall of their living room into an art gallery display.
He helped her install the gallery lights to complete the aesthetic and didn’t think much about it, until that evening. You could say this was where the “ah-ha” moment started for him.
With the sun now set, the paintings and drawings popped under the gentle ambient gallery lighting, giving the whole room an elegant, artistic vibe.
Later that night he looked around the bonus room / studio – at his much-loved, but sadly neglected guitars sitting on their stands – mere shadows against the wall. They deserved the same attention. After all, many of these instruments had been with him since the beginning of his musical journey. They had been played on countless stages, traveled with numerous bands, and remained at the ready as his profession became a hobby.
He took to the internet. Surely there was a product on the market that would do for his most precious art pieces what it had done for the paintings downstairs. To his utter shock, there wasn’t…
He began tinkering with materials on hand, tying tea-lights to his guitar stands with stings and rubber bands. When it became clear his vision had the possibility of becoming a reality, he began the patent filing process. Eighteen months later it was awarded. Then the real work began.
From websites to engineers to content creators – the whole family got involved. Stacy, an author already in the public-eye, took the social media reins. Brayden, their son, majoring in business analytics, provided much needed Gen-Z advice. And Harrison steadied the course, crafting the best version of the product he could.
The Stand OUT! lighting kit is the first of its kind and on the market now, with two other revolutionary lighting products in the pipeline for later this year. So, if you dig music, art, and family-owned small businesses, stay tuned. We have exciting things coming your way.
From our family to yours,
Instrument Lighting Systems.
